Why call ourselves radical Healthworks?

office (13K)

The word “radical” comes from the latin “radix”, meaning root, essence or primary. The basis of understanding the homeopathic practice of “treating like with like,” as described wonderfully by Paracelsus, is that each disease “bears its own remedy within itself...Health must grow from the same root as disease.” Homeopaths look to understand the whole patient. As John Donne wrote, “The Physicians consider the root and occasion, the embers, and coals, and fuel of the disease, and seek to purge or correct that...to cure the sharp accidents of disease, is a great work; to cure the disease itself is a greater; but to cure the body, the root, the occasion of disease, is a work reserved for the great Physician.”

Our Rothesay, NB office on the Kennebecasis River.

“It is as if we were examining in minute detail the leaves of a great tree without the perception that they are part of a whole and are attached to twigs and to branches and thence unified in one trunk. The roots of disease remain unknown.”

Classical Homeopath

I have been a student of the healing and holistic medical arts for more than 20 years. In the words of the prophet Kahlil Gibran, “pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within heals itself.” I have experienced that to live in fear and turmoil is to deny myself the ability to be of genuine usefulness to others. My own journey - often reluctantly - continues to slowly move me into this light of awareness. Illness can be our greatest teacher, our greatest opportunity to become more. And it is through classical homeopathy and my passion for it that I offer join you on your path to restored health.

I am a graduate of the School of Homeopathy Devon, England —one of the oldest established colleges of homeopathy in the U.K. The School of Homeopathy Devon, England plays a leading role in creating and maintaining the highest standards of the teaching of classical homeopathy as set forth in Samuel Hahnemann’s Organon of the Medical Art. (see the North American Society of Homeopaths Code of Ethics and Rules of Practice.)

The Devon School of Homeopathy is fully recognized by the Society of Homeopaths (SOH), the British representatives of the European and International Councils for Classical Homeopathy, as well as the North American Society of Homeopaths (NASH). After growing up in Oakville Ontario, I graduated Bachelor of Arts (Econ.) from Huron College, University of Western Ontario in London. For 15 years I worked in corporate and financial services as a consultant to national corporations based out of Toronto, Ontario.

I completed the Doctor of Naturopathy, ND program through Clayton College of Natural Health (CCNH). This included study in the history and foundations of naturopathy, nutrition and disease, detoxification and healing, herbalism, as well as other holistic modalities.

CCNH is accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and the American Naturopathic Medical Accreditation Board. These are professional associations that offer professional accreditation in naturopathy and other areas of natural health. Both are private accrediting associations designed to meet the needs of non-traditional education and are not affiliated with any government agency.

While the central focus of treatment is classical homeopathy, I also provide educational consultations and usually employ a vitamin-mineral assessment. My naturopatic consulting includes information about recommendations to changes in lifestyle and dietary habits to accompany the core homeopathic treatment. I encourage personal efforts toward spirit-centered and wholistic lifestyle activities, such as exercise and nutrition centered around consuming as much whole, real and local organic food as possible. I also encourage my pateints to eliminate processed and refined foods and food supplements.

My principle Teacher is Misha Norland, dedicated to homeopathy since the early 70's and a founder of the SOH. I am also continuing my post-graduate studies under the teachings of Dr. Jayesh Shah and Dr. Rajan Sankaran. Dr. Sankaran is regarded as one of the leading contemporary homeopaths, and is recognized throughout the world as one of the most important influences on current homeopathic thought and practice. His work during the past three decades has had a profound impact on the understanding of disease and homeopathic treatment. He has taught and mentored numerous homeopaths throughout the globe.

I am Director and Co-Chair of the Maritime Society of Homeopaths. My work with this group includes advocacy for the inclusion of Classical Homeopathy within a wider range of group insurance policies and Provincial supplied health care in collaboration with conventional medical practice.

I am a practitioner member of the West Coast Homeopathic Society which is a non-profit organization created in 1995 to promote public awareness, understanding, and education of homeopathy in Canada and to encourage informed use of homeopathic products.

My family and I live in the town of Rothesay on the Kennebecasis River in southern New Brunswick, a setting that invigorates our spirits, bringing us closer to the healing rhythms of nature. The Radical HealthWorks clinic (pictured below) opened in 2003 and is situated along the river near our home. We also provide services in Fredericton and Saint John. Clinical plans are currently under development for Oakville, Ontario in 2006.
