Why choose homeopathy?

Millions of people around the world use homeopathy

The contemporary homeopathic community is continuously evolving, refining, and experiencing a wider range of results. Homeopathy may not be mainstream in Canada, especially in the Maritimes, but it is popular throughout Europe, the UK and India. In France, 40% of the public use homeopathy and 39% of MDs routinely prescribe homeopathic remedies. Medical schools offer a degree in homeopathy and it is taught in all pharmacy schools.

In the UK, 42% of MDs refer patients to homeopaths (British Med. Jour. 292, 7/7/86). Homeopathic hospitals and outpatient clinics are part of the national health system and it is recognized as a postgraduate medical specialty through an act of Parliament. Homeopathy has also enjoyed patronage of the British Royal Family for 4 generations. In India, there are over 150,000 homeopathic MDs and over 100, 5-year homeopathic medical colleges.

On this continent we have been reawakening to homeopathy's efficacy—its ability to strengthen the body's defense systems while focusing on treating illness from the root source—radically!

“Homeopathy is wholly capable of satisfying the therapeutic demands of this age better than any other system or school of medicine.”

—Charles Menninger, M.D., Founder, Menninger Clinic, USA.

Interest in Homeopathy by conventional physicians on the rise

A survey of primary care physicians who are members of the AMA revealed that 49% of them expressed interest in training in homeopathy (British Homeopathic Journal, July, 1997). A survey conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland also surveyed Maryland family practice doctors, and discovered that 69% expressed interest in homeopathic training (Journal of the American Board of Family Practice, 1995, 8, 361-6). Both of these studies show an impressively high degree of interest by the conventional Medical establishment in homeopathy.

We need to “...rescript a tired, outdated medical paradigm: that [pharmaceutical] drugs plus surgery equals an answer to all health issues.”

—Herbert Benson, M.D., founding president
Harvard Medical School, Mind/Body Medical Institute

“The highest ideal of cure is the rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of health by removal and annihilation of the whole disease in the shortest, most reliable way.”

—Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, founder of Homeopathy

Integrate your mind, emotions, and body in your healing

Larry Dossey, M.D., editor of the peer-reviewed journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, challenges the orthodoxy of mechanistic medicine, saying, “I am convinced, especially when the mind is involved, that medical science has not had the last word, it has hardly had the first word on how the world works.” In contrast, with classical homeopathy we gain a complete understanding of the totality of your chief complaint—physically, mentally and emotionally. Then, a non-toxic, natural, single-dose of remedy is selected, administered and repeated as needed depending upon the nature and depth of the illness.

“For every one success, a hundred people take drugs unnecessarily…side effects the least of it…the very fact of having been given a prescription, they are encouraged to believe that help is at hand, and all they need to do is swallow it daily, when what is needed, in fact, is character, resolve and a sense of purpose in life…Not available, alas, from the doctor or from a bottle.”

—Theodore Dalrymple MD, British physician

“Prior to the 1990's, comparatively few people were thought to suffer from depression: perhaps 1 person in 10,000. With the discovery of the Prozac family of drugs there came, not coincidentally, an explosive increase in diagnosis of depressive illness. Current estimates claim that one in ten of the population is clinically depressed—it may affect 20 million in NA. A thousand fold increase! In barely a decade, depression has gone from being a rare disorder to being classed as one of the greatest afflictions of humankind—requiring that millions of comparatively healthy people be treated with powerful medication. An old cliché jumps irresistibly to mind: To the man with a hammer in his hand, everything looks like a nail.”

—Arthur Schafer,Director of Centre for Professional and
Applied Ethics at the University of Manitoba.

Avoid dangerous side effects of medication

Side effects of medicines are now one of the top three causes of death in North America. For this reason and others, people are turning more and more toward holistic (complementary and alternative) medicine in an effort to address the causes and not only the end results of illness. In response to this, over 1/5 of U.S. hospitals (such as Beth Israel in New York) now offer holistic medicine alongside conventional medical care. The objective: to address the illness of the whole person at a deep level.

“SSRI's (Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, Celebrex and others) were the 2nd most prescribed drug in the US, behind pain-killer Codeine. For the past 3 years, the number of prescriptions has grown by up to 20% a year!”

—IMF Canada, health-information company.

“...There is no nice way of putting this: The drug companies have subordinated patient safety on the altar of blockbuster profits.”

—Fortune Magazine, April 2002

“The medical profession's love affair with technology (and Pharmacy) may have a chilling effect on relations between doctors and their patients.”

—Melvin Connor, M.D.. Teacher of human biology and medical anthropology, Emory University
